Package of Bees or a Nucleus? 

A 3 pound package of bees is a good way to get your bee hive started, and it will take you 6-8 weeks to see your first cycle of brood into the field force. Usually they start coming into their own about mid-summer which is very difficult to get them up and running strong before winter.

A nucleus, however, already has brood, larvae, emerging bees, nurse bees, field force and a laying queen. This literally gives your hive a 6-8 week head start on a successful summer and with a chance of a few pounds of honey to enjoy for the winter!

Our bees are Rocky Mountain strong making them a good choice for your backyard hives. This summer we will have nucs ready for you to pick up and settle into your beehives.
